New Course: Case Studies in American Music
This Weekend Intensive course offers students an opportunity to explore American music through a case study approach. While it would be impossible to give due attention to the vast nature of American music, the case study approach allows students to engage presenters & colleagues in specific problem solving situations.
The case studies will challenge students by bringing them as close as possible to a variety of real world situations in American music. They will spark lively class discussions and provide critical thinking and problem solving skills that students can put into practice in their professional lives.
The final project will ask students to create and lead their own case study based on a topic of their choice. The project will allow students to demonstrate a more in-depth understanding of a particular topic within American music. Each case discussed over the weekend will model and reinforce the final project expectation and process.
